The 2023 Aston Martin DBX is infused with the British brand's
sporty DNA, despite its SUV shape. This high-riding ute is
bigger than a DB11 and less nimble than a Vantage, but unlike
its low-slung brothers, it has a usable back seat, plenty of
storage room, and the ability to tow and go off-road. The
standard DBX boasts a nice-sounding twin-turbo V-8, but it's
not as speedy as some of the less costly competitors.
Mercedes owns a portion of Aston Martin, and its contribution
to the DBX goes beyond the infotainment system, since the
SUV is powered by Mercedes-astonishing AMG's 4.0-litre twinturbo V8 petrol engine. The engine in the DBX produces 550hp
and 700Nm. Merc's 9-speed torque-converter automatic
transmission distributes power to all four wheels.
A lot of the switchgear on the DBX is shared with the rest of the
Aston Martin lineup. A microsuede headliner, soft-touch
surfaces, and elegantly stitched leather adorn the cabin. A
12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, configurable ambient lighting,
three-zone climate control, and heated front and rear seats are
all standard on the ute.
The DBX is also well-suited to rear-seat passengers. Where the
Rapide, the family's last Aston, felt claustrophobic in the rear,
the DBX had plenty of room. The long 3,060mm wheelbase
provides plenty of rear legroom, as well as ample headroom.
The motorised tailgate of the DBX opens to reveal a 632-litre
cargo compartment. It's well-designed and functional, with a
leather-lined parcel tray to boot. So this is the only usable
Aston on the market!
